….a serious issue for our watershed.
In the July 22, 2012 issue of the Sac Bee, Our Region section, Edward Ortiz reported on the recent study on groundwater in the Central Valley. We depend on both groundwater and surface water for drinking water, but in our region, more heavily on groundwater. This report discusses the unsustainable practices, both agricultural and urban, that have led to this condition. This graph tells it all:
How we use water within the Laguna Creek watershed affects our groundwater. Because irrigating lawns and gardens accounts of greater than 65% of residential water use (www.rwah2o.org) in our region, we have a great opportunity to contribute to water conservation by practice river friendly landscaping.
