I live very close to Laguna Creek and run along the trail frequently.  Over the weekend I was surprised and somewhat concerned to see how low the water had gotten in the last week!  With January and February of this year marking record lows for precipitation in the Sacramento area, Laguna Creek is showing the effects of little to no rain in two months.

Coincidentally I took photos of the creek after our last big storm in late December.  I thought it would be interesting to see the comparison between that high flow event and today’s conditions.  Wow!  What a difference!  I also took some pictures today of the creek at the train trestle in Fallbrook…very low there.

Although we are enjoying all this warm spring-like weather, let’s all cross our fingers for some good rain during the month of March!

Good news though!  On my adventure this morning I was happy to see a male pheasant and two hens in the grass along the creek.  It’s always encouraging to see wildlife in our own ‘backyards’!
