A few weeks ago two LCWC board members ventured out to check on the bird boxes that had been installed last May along the stretch of Laguna Creek between Waterman Rd. and Elk Grove-Florin Blvd. All attendees of the event in May 2015 had a great time assembling the boxes in Jack Hill Park and then installing them along the creek. You can read about it here. No birds had used the boxes which was expected since they had been installed late in the nesting season. New wood shavings were added to the boxes as needed. All of the boxes were in good shape with the exception of some vandalism damage to one of the Wood Duck boxes. Future outings will be planned for bird box maintenance and installing new boxes.
