Join us for the Spring 2014 Cruise the Creek!

Turtles basking in the sun, egrets hunting at water’s edge, and baby ducklings swimming in a row are all possible sightings during LCWC’s semiannual Cruise the Creek event.  We may even see one of these!

Join LCWC docents on Saturday, May 10th for an interpretive bike ride along Elk Grove’s diamond in the rough—Laguna Creek.  In between short stretches of pedaling, learn about the animal and plant life living along this urban watershed and what we can all do to help protect this resource.  We will meet at Del Meyer Park (located on Elk Grove-Florin Blvd just south of Bond Rd.) at 10:00 AM and will return by noon.

Is there anything you’ve always wanted to know about the creek or its inhabitants but were afraid to ask?  This is your chance!  Submit your question as a comment to this blog post and we will do our best to have an answer for you.  Our favorite question will receive a Starbuck’s gift card!  (Must be present to win)

  1. What great pond builders these mighty aquatic artisans are! What can we do to protect their habitat from contamination by people & pets? On a pretty day, there were plenty of people with multiple dogs & no waste bags. It’s not unusual in Elk Grove.

    1. Well, we can all make a difference on an individual level with our own behaviors. For concerns like waste bag stations that are empty, you can contact the appropriate agency listed on our report-a-concern

        page.
